About The AGEncy Fund

The House of Janus, a film that reflects on enduring love, ageing, and the legacies we leave behind, brings a pressing need into sharp focus. In a world that renews itself by relentlessly generating emerging voices, there is often limited support available to acknowledge and empower our mature audiences and cultural workers. The AGEncy Fund is born from this very need. It is a dedicated initiative to provide vital resources for individuals aged 60 and above.

The fund could be used to enable them to develop new works, build their artistic capacity, foster meaningful collaborations, or support them in times of dire financial need. T:>Works has never believed that art is a luxury. The arts is a space where we build solidarities, capacities, and potentialities. We believe in ageing well and that there are still decades of wisdom to contribute and share. With this fund, we aim to organise the intergenerational "AGEncy Festival" a vibrant celebration of the sustained  vitality and uniquely seasoned perspectives of audiences, patrons, artists, and cultural workers.

On the evening of 10 July, we hope you will join us for this special fundraising event. By purchasing a donation ticket, you become an essential partner in building The AGEncy FundWith your donation, you are championing a future that celebrates the vitality and agency of mature individuals. This will ensure their invaluable contributions are recognised and continue to enrich our society.

About The House of Janus

The House of Janus
, marks director Ong Keng Sen's return to cinema since 1996's blockbuster Army Daze. This deeply personal and visually striking "love letter" offers an intimate glimpse into Ong's life in Europe with his nonagenarian partner, Adriaan van de Staay. The film meditates on enduring love, ageing and impermanence through a compelling hybrid of cinema verité, documentary, and operatic fantasy set within their Italian hillside home in Bettona. Shifting perspectives between the house itself and its creator, the film subtly explores Adriaan’s coming to terms with the inevitable abandonment of all he has built and cherished. The opera Dido and Aeneas, the first opera the partners listened to together in this house 16 years ago and a recurring summer tradition, serves as a poignant leitmotif. Its themes of loss and farewell echoing Adriaan's own quiet reckonings that he will become like Aeneas who has to leave his life behind when destiny beckons. Evoking the two-faced Roman god Janus, the film reflects on the transience of life, the residue of personal actions, and the elusive nature of permanence as Adriaan enters his golden years, facing the inevitable departure from his beloved House of Janus with grace.
